Naples. He pretended to be a cleaner and entered undisturbed even in law firms. The lone thief also chose targets carefully, namely banks and law firms.

Carabinieri officers from the Naples Central Company, acting on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested a 45-year-old man already known to law enforcement on charges of committing 19 aggravated thefts between October 2022 and March 2024.

The man, IP, sneaked into branches of credit institutions and law firms in the Chiaia district and the historic center, pretending to be a cleaner.

With this excuse, and using the tools of the trade, he sometimes caused the toilets to malfunction and then took advantage of the confusion to steal.

With 19 robberies he stole 16 smartphones, 700 euros and three PCs

During his raids, IP managed to get hold of 15 smartphones, 700 euros in cash and 3 company PCs.

The investigation, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Carabinieri of the Chiaia Station, allowed the reconstruction of the modus operandi of the thief and to collect the evidence necessary for his arrest.

IP, currently in pretrial detention in prison, is under investigation at large and presumed innocent until a final sentence is reached.

The Carabinieri operation represents a severe blow to petty crime affecting businesses in the city center. The police force's commitment is aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and combating all forms of illegality.
