Naples, checks in the nightlife: two young people found with knives
NAPLES, MARCH 2 – During the night, the Carabinieri of the Centro Company carried out a control service in the main areas of Neapolitan nightlife, concentrating on the areas of the historic center and Chiaia.
During the operations, the military stopped a 17-year-old and a 24-year-old found in possession of knives. Another young man, 16, attempted to evade the controls by forcing the stop imposed by the carabinieri.
During the checks, four people were caught illegally practicing parking despite having already been fined in the past. One individual was also removed from the so-called “red zone” of Chiaia.
Numerous fines were issued, many of which were for failure to wear a helmet. The checks also concerned the fight against drug dealing and consumption: nine people were reported to the Prefecture for use of narcotic substances.
The evening's events also included the arrest of a 19-year-old Neapolitan, already under obligation to report to the judicial police. The young man violently resisted the officers who intervened to seize his scooter, which was uninsured, and physically attacked them. He was stopped and placed under house arrest pending trial.
During the checks, a foreign citizen was reported for being in possession of three identity documents registered to third parties, while another young man was reported for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nightlife controls are important but sometimes they seem excessive, especially when young people are stopped just for having knives that perhaps are not used incorrectly. We need to think about the methods.
I don't know if it's right to stop all the young people, but knives can be a problem. Maybe they should check more the adults and who is really dangerous in the nightlife areas.
It's strange that there are so many controls but the problem of drugs and illegal parking does not seem to improve. The Carabinieri must find a better way to manage the situation and not just fine.
