Naples – A 37-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, was arrested yesterday by the State Police on charges of attempted aggravated theft.
The incident occurred in the Brin multi-storey car park, in via Benedetto Brin, where the man was caught while trying to force open a parked vehicle.
The alarm was raised after a report reached the Operations Room of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station. The officers, engaged in a territorial control service, promptly intervened on site.
The suspect was stopped even before the police arrived by a security guard who caught him inside a car while he was trying to remove objects using a pair of scissors.
The investigators, once on site, found the scissors inside the passenger compartment, confirming that they had been used to damage the front deflector of the vehicle. Not only that: a backpack containing various burglary tools was found next to the car, further evidence against the 37-year-old.
The man, originally from Naples and with a criminal record, was then arrested and taken to prison. The episode confirms the importance of checks on the territory and collaboration between citizens and law enforcement to prevent and combat crimes.
