The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, said that safety controls at sea will be intensified.

“As regards the accident at sea, the judicial authority is acting promptly and we hope that those responsible will soon be brought to justice,” Di Bari declared at the end of today's meeting at the Prefecture on safety at sea, following Sunday's tragedy that saw the death of a young woman.

“Our main task – continued Di Bari – is prevention, one of the main functions of the provincial committee for order and security.

We are putting in place a massive device to guarantee safety at sea, which involves the police forces on land, the Roan of the Guardia di Finanza and the port authorities at sea. We must work together to combat these situations of illegality."
