On Wednesday 19 June at 12:XNUMX, the Castello Mediceo di Ottaviano will host an important meeting on the topic of the Land of Fires, chaired by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari. The meeting brings together the Mayors of the Vesuvian area, the Person in Charge of combating waste fires in the Campania region, the heads of the police forces and the Commander of the Campania Group of the Army as part of the Operation Safe Roads – Land of Fires.
La Land of fires is one of the most serious environmental emergencies in Italy, characterized by the illegal abandonment and burning of waste, which has devastated large areas of Campania. These fires not only pollute the environment, but also represent a serious threat to public health, releasing toxic and carcinogenic substances into the air. With summer just around the corner, the situation risks getting even worse, making an immediate and effective action plan essential.
The meeting was convened with the aim of discussing and implementing new initiatives to address this crisis during the 2024 summer season. The Prefect of Bari stressed the need for a coordinated and multi-disciplinary approach involving all forces in the field.
