Varcaturo: 28-year-old arrested by the Carabinieri after asking to be taken to prison
The Carabinieri of the Varcaturo Station arrested a 28-year-old already under house arrest.
During a routine nighttime check, the Carabinieri went to the 28-year-old's home to verify compliance with the restrictive measure. The man, instead of appearing cooperative, surprised the officers with an unexpected request: "Take me to prison!".
The unusual request and the reasons
The 28-year-old explained to the Carabinieri that he could no longer stand living with his grandfather, calling it “too heavy.” Between understanding the family situation and duties dictated by the law, the Carabinieri tried to explain to the man that he could not choose where to serve his sentence, especially at night.
They advised him to consult with his lawyer the next day or try to resolve the disputes with his grandfather peacefully.
The escape and the arrest
It seemed that the 28-year-old had been convinced, but the Carabinieri, tormented by a doubt, decided to return to his home after a few minutes. And in fact, they found him on the street, ready to run away.
The suitcase was already packed for aevasion premeditated. Unable to do anything else, the military arrested the man.
The 28-year-old, finally “satisfied”, is now in prison at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
