Valentina Pilerci, artistic director of the festival, Luana Cerbone, head of communications, and Toni Isabella for photography will also be present.
The Festival
The Alef Cilento Festival was born from an idea of the staff of the Lu Vucenanzo library in Cardile. The event's main purpose is to bring to Cilento an event that promotes art, literature and philosophy. The theme of this first edition is "The Eleatic legacy: the relevance of Parmenides", a tribute to the revolutionary work of Parmenides, who has profoundly influenced philosophy and Western civilization.
The activities
Philosophy will be the leitmotif of the festival with lectures by professors from the Catholic Universities of Milan and Brescia, and the University of Macerata. There will be book presentations, concerts, painting and comics workshops, and a basic photography course that will end with a prize for the best photo of the festival. Paragliding activities will be organized in collaboration with the Club Tappeti Volanti of Capaccio/Paestum.
Gastronomy and Tastings
During the festival, participants will be able to taste typical Cilento dishes and wines from three of the most renowned wineries in Cilento. During the tastings, the book by Bruno De Conciliis “Nelle terre di Bacco. Dieci vignaioli che hanno cambiato il vino in Campania” will be presented.
Festival Goals
The aim of the festival is, in addition to promoting culture, to enhance the Cilento area and its products, encouraging eco-sustainable tourism. It also intends to combat the depopulation of the internal areas of Cilento, demonstrating how culture can become an economic driver.
Conclusion of the Event
The festival will end with an after-festival in the Ricci Palace in Ascea, on August 9th at 19:00 pm, during which the book “Voci in fuga, scritture italiane nel mondo” edited by the writer and journalist Mauro Ruggiero of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague will be presented.
