The prefect of Naples has issued nine more anti-mafia interdictions against as many companies in the metropolitan area, intensifying efforts to prevent and combat the infiltration of organized crime into the legal economy. In addition, two new inspections of construction sites have been ordered, in addition to the previous sixteen.
The anti-mafia legislation provides the prefect with operational tools to combat criminal infiltration, including the issuing of impedimental measures against companies deemed at risk and the carrying out of inspections at public works construction sites, with particular attention to the so-called major works.
The nine anti-mafia bans have affected companies operating in various sectors: one in the funeral services sector with headquarters in Torre Annunziata; six in the construction/real estate sector, five of which are based in Nola and one in San Vitaliano; one in the business consultancy sector, based in Nola; one in the tyre trade sector, based in Nola.
The two additional inspections were conducted in the metropolitan city, under the supervision of the prefectural authority. These activities are carried out by the Interforce Group, composed of representatives from the police force, the Labor Inspectorate and the Public Works Department, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (DIA). The Group visits the sites where construction sites are active to carry out in-depth checks on the operating companies, the personnel employed, the means used and the administrative documentation.
“The Prefecture of Naples, through the Interforce Group, is carrying out a valuable and complex work of observation, acquisition and analysis of the data collected”, reads the note from the Prefecture. This decisive action represents an important step in the fight against organized crime, ensuring that the legal economy remains free from mafia influences.
