A Festival of International Breath
Ethnos is organized by La Bazzarra with the contribution of the Campania Region and numerous other entities, including the Ministry of Culture and Nuovo Imaie. Thanks to the support of the municipalities of Napoli, San Giorgio a Cremano, Portici, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata, as well as in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II, the festival offers exclusive events with musicians from ten different countries.
High Level Shows
The festival will kick off on September 18 in Torre Annunziata with the Persephone project, a work that sees the collaboration of Luigi Cinque, Stefano Saletti and the Mongolian singer Urna Chahar-Tugchi. The evening promises a musical journey through different cultures and influences, enriched by the percussion of Giovanni Lo Cascio and the bass of Eugenio Saletti.
Songbook Grecanico Salentino and Salento Traditions
On September 19th in Torre del Greco it will be the turn of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, an iconic group of popular music from Salento. The band, founded in 1975 by Rina Durante, reinterprets the traditional pizzica tarantata in a modern key. With the 2021 album “Meridiana”, the group continues to explore new musical horizons while keeping its roots firm.
Double Appointment at the Royal Palace of Portici
On September 20, Portici will host a double show at the Reggia. First, Yarákä will perform, an ensemble from Taranto that explores African and Mediterranean sounds. Following, the duo Monica Pinto and Salvio Vassallo will present “Il Bacio – Rise and Fall of Salomè,” a project that blends traditional Campania music with contemporary sounds.
Grand Finale in San Giorgio a Cremano
The festival will end on September 21 and 22 at Villa Vannucchi, San Giorgio a Cremano, with two final concerts. On Saturday night, Enzo Rao and his project Shamal will offer a performance that mixes tradition and innovation. On Sunday, the stage will be occupied by Jupiter & Okwess from the Republic of Congo, a band that blends rock, funk and traditional Congolese rhythms.
