Authentic, traditional quality Italian catering continues to resist and grow. S
low Food has awarded 324 restaurants with the Chiocciola in the thirty-fifth edition of “Osterie d'Italia”, presented in Milan. On this occasion, the new forms of informal catering were illustrated.
In the 2025 edition volume, 1917 establishments are listed, including taverns, restaurants, wine bars with cuisine and agritourism. New this year is the “Locali Quotidiani” section, with 134 establishments that group together alternatives such as pasta factories, pubs, wine bars and delicatessens. These typologies are characterized by attention to the territory, the selection of raw materials and a welcoming style that encourages conviviality, elements that reflect the idea of an osteria according to “Osterie d'Italia”.
The new entries in the 2025 edition amount to 460, a sign of a sector in continuous growth and renewal. The regions with the most reported taverns are Piedmont (178), Campania (172) and Tuscany (164). The distribution of the Chiocciola awards is similar: Campania with 39 establishments, Piedmont with 29 and Tuscany with 27.
Carlo Bogliotti, CEO of Slow Food Editore, said during the presentation at the Teatro Strehler in Milan: “Osterias are authentic and welcoming places, different from all the others, and we will do everything to protect them.”
He added that for the third consecutive year, the guide has confirmed itself as a bestseller, even surpassing the Michelin Guide in bookshop sales.
