The Mobile Team, with the support of the Polfer Lazio, has identified and arrested at the Termini station in Rome a 30-year-old accused of having defrauded, on October 15, an 87-year-old disabled woman, stealing gold jewelry worth 70.000 euros.

The valuables were recovered and returned to the victim. The investigation began after the elderly woman called 113, reporting that she had received a phone call from an unknown person who was posing as a lawyer.

The man had told her that her son had caused a serious car accident and that in order to obtain his release from prison, it would be necessary to hand over all her jewelry as collateral.

The woman, deceived, handed over the jewelry to the scammer, who then quickly fled. The police then began their search, discovering that the scammer had passed through the Padua station and had taken a Frecciarossa to Naples Central.

Thanks to the tip, the Lazio railway police intercepted the 30-year-old at Termini station, where he was stopped with the victim's valuables in his pocket.
