Avellino. An episode of violence shook the emergency room of the “Moscati” hospital late yesterday evening, when a doctor was punched in the face by a patient. The attack, confirmed by the hospital management, occurred during a normal routine visit.
According to the reconstructions, the patient, after being examined, had been reassured by the doctor about his health status and invited to return home without worries. However, the man's reaction was unexpected and violent: he punched the health worker in the face, unleashing moments of chaos inside the facility.
A nurse intervened to calm the situation but was also attacked, making it necessary for the agents of the Avellino Police Headquarters to intervene. The police personnel, who quickly arrived on the scene, identified and reported the attacker.
