Santa Maria Capua Vetere. An evening that was supposed to be a party turned into a bloodbath on Corso Garibaldi in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, shortly after 20 pm. Two young foreigners of North African origin, an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old, were stabbed during a brutal gang fight.

The older of the two, wounded in the leg, was immediately transported to the hospital in Marcianise. The younger, hit in the abdomen, was in critical condition and was urgently transferred to Caserta.
The fight apparently initially broke out in Piazza Mazzini, where groups of young people clashed with clubs and also involved a commercial activity. The number of participants was at least a dozen. The situation degenerated when one of the young he was chased along the entire street, until he collapsed in agony in front of a jewelry store, just beyond the theater.
Chase along Piazza Mazzini
The saleswomen of the surrounding shops, in an attempt to avoid the danger, fled to the shops that were still open. The police intervened quickly, but the attackers of the 16-year-old managed to take refuge again towards Piazza Mazzini. In the meantime, the young man who was hit in the abdomen, perhaps with the help of some compatriot, left the scene of the attack before being rescued by an ambulance.
Law enforcement is now collecting images from the shops' surveillance cameras to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the events.
