NAPLES - “I was attacked and chased while I was returning home. Reportedly, Jannotti Pecci he was returning to his home in Posillipo when a motorbike carrying a man and a woman blocked his path. “Suddenly - he tells - that guy threw a punch at me. It was so violent… I was able to dodge it, luckily, even though it hit me a little”.
Despite the initial attempted assault, the assailant continued: “Then an even more violent kick against the car, so much so that it made him lose his balance.” The industrialists' president managed to get away by accelerating, but soon realized that the motorbike was following him again. “I realized it wasn’t over. The chase continued, but I turned around and made it home safely.”
A climate of intimidation
The attacker, according to Jannotti Pecci, was identified and reported. “I will never forget that face”, he stressed. However, the episode was only the latest in a series of threats that have hit the top management of the Industrial Union of Naples. “Both I and the general director of the Union, Francesco Benucci, have been the object of threats and intimidating acts which are being investigated”, added Jannotti Pecci.
The attack suffered by Jannotti Pecci is not only a personal attack, but also a worrying sign of a social climate that the leader of the industrialists defines as "heavy and of which perhaps we do not realize". The episode has turned the spotlight on the need for greater protection for those who represent the entrepreneurial fabric and on the challenges that the industrial sector of Campania must face, not only on the economic level, but also on that of security.
