In an interview with Financial Times, Connor Hayes, Vice President of Generative AI Products at Meta, elaborated on the benefits of this initiative, emphasizing the importance of integrating these technologies to improve the user experience on Facebook.
Meta has already invested heavily in artificial intelligence, distributing a wide range of products and services based on it. Just think of AI Studio, where you can create an avatar based on your interests/desires, or even AI extensions of yourself.
Now, there’s talk in Menlo Park of expanding access to AI Studio beyond the United States in the coming year, as part of a larger plan to double down on AI efforts. Such moves could prove lucrative, as long as adequate user protections and safeguards are in place.
In the meantime, as a first step, the company has already set up an option to label AI-generated content on its platforms. Now we await the second: in 2025, we will probably see AI content on 100% AI profiles.

It's interesting to see how Meta is trying to increase engagement on Facebook with AI characters. I don't know if it's a good idea though, because sometimes bots can be confused and not understand human emotions. It remains to be seen.
