MONTEFUSCO (AVELLINO) – Two serial fraudsters have been identified and reported at liberty by the Carabinieri of the Montefusco Station, a few days after the first reports.
The two criminals, already known to the police, had carried out sophisticated computer scams, managing to steal several thousand euros to unsuspecting victims. The first scam hit a worker resident in Montefusco, attracted by an apparently advantageous online advertisement for the purchase of gardening tools. Convinced of the deal, the man made two top-ups on a prepaid card, only to discover that behind the advertisement was a 43 year old criminal MondragoneThe purchased material was never delivered.
In the second case, a 29 year old from the province of Naples he pretended to be an operator of an online bank. Using the technique of spoofing, disguised the phone number to make it appear as if it belonged to a credit institution. With this trick, he managed to deceive the owner of a tobacconist's, inducing him to carry out bank transfers for over two thousand euros.
Despite the scammers' attempts to operate anonymously, the investigations of the Carabinieri - increasingly specialized in combating computer crimes - have allowed them to quickly trace the perpetrators of the fraud. Both will now have to answer for the crime of aggravated fraud.

It's amazing how there are still people who fall into such traps, but the truth is that there are more and more scams online and people need to be more careful not to lose money and not to be fooled by misleading advertising.
