arzano - New anti-mafia blitz in the northern area of Naples: the State Police has carried out five precautionary measures against individuals believed to be involved in an intense extortion activity attributable to the clan of the 167 of Arzano.
The operation, coordinated by District Anti-Mafia Directorate, comes at the culmination of a complex investigation launched following the complaint of an entrepreneur working on a construction site in Arzano, the subject of a pressing request for "pizzo".
Interceptions and videos
The investigative activities – carried out by the investigative and operational team of the Police Station frattamaggiore – they developed through telephone and environmental interceptions which documented a systematic imposition of the racket a traders and small business owners, with particular reference to the Easter installment, to be paid according to the clan's "criminal" calendar (Christmas, Easter and August 15th).
The modus operandi
The extortion demands were so consolidated that they did not require explicit threats: the appearance of the collectors was enough to obtain the money. In several cases, the merchants attempted to negotiate by recalling "old agreements" with the criminal group to limit payments to two installments per year.
The answer was blunt: “You pay even at Easter”The cameras filmed the suspects while they collected the banknotes directly from the hands of the victims.
Extortion also at the consortium cemetery
Among the reconstructed episodes, there is also an extortion to the detriment of an entrepreneur active in the construction of burial niches at the consortium cemetery of the municipalities of Casoria, Arzano and Casavatore.
The interceptions also shed light on the division of proceeds and on the concealment of the money, entrusted to a person now under investigation for aggravated receiving of stolen goods in order to facilitate the Camorra association.

This news is very important and makes you think about how organized crime affects people's lives. It's strange to think that there are entrepreneurs forced to pay to work. We hope that law enforcement continues to fight these phenomena.
