Naples – Lucia Simeone, the secretary of MEP Fulvio Martusciello involved in the Belgian judicial investigation into alleged bribes paid to European politicians to favor the Chinese giant, has returned to Italy Huawei in the race to 5G.
Simeone had been reached last March 13, in the Caserta area, by a European arrest warrant for criminal association, money laundering and corruption.
The news was announced by the lawyer Antimo Giaccio, the woman's defender together with his colleague Claudio Pollio. Simeone had gone to Brussels on April 28 to make herself available to the prosecutor and respond to the accusations made in the investigation.
“Lucia Simeone is leaving Brussels after having clarified her position before the Belgian magistrates, a position that has also been confirmed by subsequent investigative activities,” Giaccio explained in a statement. The lawyers are now announcing their intention to submit a request to the investigating judge to close the case.
