Naples – A Porta Capuana, the historic heart of the city, crime operates undisturbed. A video, released by the deputy of the Green-Sinister Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli following a report from a resident, immortalizes yet another theft: two individuals, armed with a hose, steal a motorbike in just 20 seconds, ignoring the alarm and the cameras.
“Theft is now routine, legality a mirage,” denounces Borrelli, who has been fighting urban decay and petty crime for years. “Cameras and alarms do not stop thieves, who act in the certainty of impunity. Porta Capuana, a symbol of ancient Naples, is abandoned to drug dealing, violence and decay. The citizens, exasperated, feel alone.”
The MP launches an appeal: “Concrete interventions are needed: more police forces, certain penalties, urban and social regeneration.
Without work and decorum, security remains a utopia. Naples can no longer look the other way: we owe it to those who resist every day”.
