Naples – “I continue to receive threats, from Brazil, from China, from India, from Israel and now also from Kuwait”.
The one who denounced it was Nives Monda, owner of the restaurant Taverna Santa Chiara, already at the center of controversy and intimidation for her public support of the Palestinian cause.
The restaurateur spoke today at the conference to present “Tutti giù per terra”, an initiative promoted by the “Life for Gaza” collective, scheduled for June 21 on the Naples seafront.
“Militancy can be done in many ways,” Monda said, “every day. Wearing a keffiyeh, an earring, participating in events, filling the squares. I am accused of doing politics in my restaurant, as if it were something dirty. But I grew up in a family where politics was done every day, talking about the news on TV at dinner.”
Despite the wave of insults received, even online, Monda reiterates his determination: "I will only go where there are clear words, I am not interested in publicity. If there is something positive in all this, it is that we can really shift public attention to what matters".
