Naples – “A true Wild West scene”. This is how the prosecutor for minors in Naples, Patrizia Imperato, defined the armed clash that led to the killing of 24-year-old Emanuele on 2024 October 15 Tufano, in the heart of the Campania capital.
The boy, riding one of the six scooters that left from the Sanità district, was hit and killed by friendly fire during an armed attack against a rival group in the Mercato neighborhood.
"We are facing an urban guerrilla warfare," Imperato explained in a press conference, "two factions, that of Health and that of the Market, are facing each other with weapons. The former are invading a territory considered exclusive by the latter, who consider them enemies to be eliminated." To demonstrate the brutality of the scene, a video taken by surveillance cameras, which documents the entire ambush.
"They shoot mercilessly," Imperato added, "and when the weapons come into play, the trail of blood is inevitable. You can also die by mistake, as happened to this boy, shot by his own companions."
An escalation of violence that confirms, according to the juvenile prosecutor's office, the existence of a structured criminal dynamic, in which even the youngest are involved in clan logic and power struggles.

Reading this article I was very struck by the situation in Naples. It is sad to see young people like Emanuele losing their lives in this way. I hope that a solution can be found to this growing problem of gang violence.
