Vomero under the lens: maxi-control against “movida” by Police and Guardia di Finanza
Naples – Yesterday evening, the Vomero neighborhood was the protagonist of a large joint operation by law enforcement and other agencies, aimed at intensifying territorial control in the areas most frequented by nightlife.
The initiative, coordinated by the Naples Police Headquarters, involved State Police officers (Vomero, Bagnoli, Arenella Police Stations and the Anti-Crime Division), Guardia di Finanza officers, Local Police personnel and technicians from ASL NA1 Centro.
The security device was concentrated in particular in the area of San Martino and along the streets Giordano, Falcone, Scarlatti, also extending to the central squares Medaglie d'Oro and Vanvitelli. The primary objective was to control the territory, prevent illegal phenomena and ensure compliance with current regulations.
During the service, the police identified 144 people, 14 of whom had previous police records, and checked 35 vehicles. On the traffic front, 31 violations of the Highway Code were contested, mainly for parking violations and failure to periodically inspect vehicles.
Particular attention was paid to the control of commercial establishments. 22 premises were scrutinized, finding several significant non-conformities. The owners were given numerous prescriptions to remedy violations of various kinds, with the imposition of administrative sanctions for a total amount of approximately 5.000 euros. The control activity also led to the seizure of 25 kilograms of non-compliant foodstuffs and the suspension of a commercial activity for serious non-compliance.
The joint operation demonstrates the institutions' desire to keep their guard up in the areas of Neapolitan "movida", often the scene of episodes of petty crime and violations of the rules. The tight controls aim to guarantee the safety of citizens and respect for the law, in a densely populated neighborhood that is frequented especially in the evening and night hours.
