Record numbers and high-profile content for the 2025 edition of DMED – Mediterranean Diet Exhibition, which ended on Sunday 1st June at the NEXT – New Exhibition Ex Tobacconist’s Factory in Paestum.

Three intense days, from May 30th to June 1st, which recorded over 25.000 attendees from all over Italy, confirming the event as the most important national forum dedicated to the Mediterranean Diet in all its dimensions: cultural, scientific, social, environmental and economic.
Ferrara (Edamus): “A community that builds the future”
Emilio Ferrara, president of the Edamus Consortium, promoter of the event, sums up the results:
“We have experienced a memorable edition. The DMED is now a community that builds the future around Mediterranean values. Not just a showcase, but a real collective space where institutions, research, young people and businesses meet to build a model of sustainable development”.
An unprecedented institutional audience
The 2025 edition has obtained the patronage of the Ministries of University, Agriculture, Culture and Tourism, as well as the support of seven Italian Regions: Campania, Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Molise, Puglia and Lombardy. Among the participating entities are also the Cilento National Park, the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia, the Association of Authentic Villages of Italy and Coldiretti.
There were also numerous institutional presences, including the Undersecretary for Agriculture Luigi D'Eramo, the Undersecretary for Transport Antonio Iannone, the deputies Piero De Luca, Marco Cerreto and Attilio Pierro, as well as representatives of the regional administrations.
Producers and territories as protagonists
The operational heart of the event was represented by over 100 stands, including 20 set up by the municipalities of the Borghi Autentici d'Italia, for a total of 12 regions represented. Also on the front line were the main organizations of Italian agricultural producers, such as Italian Fruit Village, Terra Orti, AOA, Amico Bio, Assofruit, Aroma Domus, as well as Coldiretti.
DMED partners include BCC Campania Centro, the Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, Zwilling, Ballarini, Ricrea, Sacar Forni and Ortomad.
Over 300 guests between science, entertainment and haute cuisine
Many famous faces took to the DMED stage: the actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, the Manetti Bros, the starred chefs Peppe Guida, Oliver Glowig, Michele De Blasio and Fabio Pesticcio, the master pastry chef Sal De Riso, the food creator Giusi Battaglia, the chefs Antonella Ricci and Francesca Gambacorta, the actress Debora Caprioglio and the food and wine journalist Luciano Pignataro.
The talk and cooking show will be hosted by journalists Maria Rosaria Sica, Barbara Politi, Angelica Amodei, Stefania Sirignano, as well as Tinto and Giuseppe De Caro.
The DMED Award is born: awards to the promoters of the Mediterranean Diet
Among the most appreciated innovations, the institution of the DMED Award, assigned to personalities who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of Mediterranean values. Awarded: Luigi D'Eramo, Claudio Gubitosi (founder of the Giffoni Film Festival), the chef Peppe Guida, Sal De Riso, the nutritionist Emanuele Alfano and the journalist Luciano Pignataro.
Youth and innovation at the centre
Great response also for the national competition “Mediterranean Diet: the pride of Italian tradition starts with young people”, aimed at high schools and promoted by the Edamus Foundation. There was also space for the round table on food districts and rural innovation, organized by the National Consultation of Food Districts, with experts and operators in the sector.
Handmade Pasta Championship: Neapolitan Domenico Pastena triumphs
A moment of great popular involvement was the Championship of Pasta Fatta a Mano, now in its second edition. The winner in the professional category was chef Domenico Pastena, awarded for the authenticity and mastery in the creation of the dish, a true tribute to Mediterranean culture.
Scientific research at the centre of the debate
The scientific contribution of the CNR, the Universities of Salerno, Naples Federico II, Basilicata and Technoscience was fundamental, having addressed crucial issues such as **food in space, rural innovation, traditional agri-food products**, **health** and sustainability.
A national communication network
The live coverage of the event was entrusted to Radio Tv DMED, with a dense network of regional and national radio and television stations that amplified the reach of the event throughout the territory.
DMED looks to the future
With this fourth edition, DMED confirms itself as a strategic platform for the Mediterranean, an interdisciplinary laboratory that transforms the Mediterranean Diet from an intangible heritage to a concrete lever for sustainable development, inclusion and social innovation.
