One of the historic squares of Italian football has been removed from the professional championships. With an official decision communicated in the last few hours, the FIGC has excluded Brescia Calcio from Serie C, denying the granting of the national licence for the 2025/26 season.
A piece of news that marks a very hard blow for a team with 114 years of history, capable over the years of alternating great promises with severe crises, but always central to the sporting and cultural life of the city. The Federation's press release was unequivocal: no admission to the next championship.
The reason lies in the failure to meet economic-administrative requirements required to participate in the professionals. A sum of negligence, delays and lack of guarantees that made the exclusion resolution inevitable. In Brescia the blow was devastating. Fans incredulous, city in shock, local institutions mobilized. Because losing a team like Brescia means lose a piece of identity, a symbol that has united generations at the Rigamonti stadium.
But as the curtain falls on the old society, an idea of rebirth has already begun to take shape. At the forefront there is Joseph Pasini, president of Feralpi Salò, who has launched a plan to bring professional football back to the city. The project, supported by the Municipality of Brescia and by the multi-utility A2A, aims to rebuild from the foundations a new sporting reality, capable of bringing back enthusiasm, ambition and credibility.
