Naples – A violent verbal and physical altercation that erupted yesterday afternoon near Porta Capuana in Naples turned tragic. A 32-year-old man, Elhoucine Ziouani, originally from Burkina Faso, died from serious injuries sustained during the brawl involving several people.
Immediately after the incident, the young man was rushed to the emergency room at Vecchio Pellegrini Hospital with a critical condition. Despite the prompt intervention of medical staff, the thirty-two-year-old's condition—which had appeared extremely critical upon arrival—deteriorated over the following hours, culminating in his death.
The incident generated moments of great apprehension and tension in the surrounding area. The prompt and massive intervention of the State Police was necessary to restore public order.
Officers moved quickly to secure the alleged attacker, a 58-year-old Tunisian citizen with legal residence in Tunisia. The man, attempting to escape the agitated reaction of those present, had barricaded himself inside a local bar. Once secured and the worst was averted, the 58-year-old was taken to the police station and subsequently arrested. The competent authorities have launched an investigation to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the tragic incident.
