

Mondragone: A fellow Italian was robbed with pepper spray.
Yesterday afternoon, September 5th, a report to 112 alerted the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Unit. The call concerned a robbery on Via Domiziana, near the Via San Razzino roundabout. Officers from the Mobile Radio Unit arrived immediately and interviewed the victim.
The 26-year-old Tunisian said he was attacked by a fellow Tunisian, grabbed around the neck, and threatened with a knife and pepper spray. His cell phone was allegedly stolen under threat. According to immediate reports, the incident lasted only a few moments.
After receiving a description of the alleged perpetrator, the Carabinieri searched the nearby streets. A 24-year-old Tunisian man with an illegal immigration status was located not far from the scene of the report. During a personal search, they found a cell phone identified by the victim and a pepper spray can.
The phone was returned to its rightful owner. The spray was seized and made available to the judicial authorities.
The 24-year-old was arrested red-handed on suspicion of robbery. By order of the judicial authorities, he was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
The investigation continues to reconstruct the dynamics and any other investigative aspects. The proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase: the arrested man is presumed innocent pending a final sentence.
