There will be five buses that will leave tomorrow from the plant in via Argine, headed for Rome, for the new meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development on the fate of the Whirlpool plant in Napoli. Today, workers are protesting again in the streets in conjunction with the strike called by the RSU. “Once again,” reads a statement from the United Trade Union Representatives, “Whirlpool continues to provoke workers and to confirm in practice its desire to close the Naples site, playing unfairly on two tables: that of the fictitious trade union confrontation and that of industrial actions that contradict what is stated at the institutional tables.” “Today,” the RSU specify, “washing machines were loaded to be sent to warehouses in Poland and other depots, different from the ordinary ones, without notifying the trade unions, confirming the desire to definitively disengage from the Naples site and subsequently to move from Italy. We consider this wicked choice unacceptable, but above all dangerous because it serves to destabilize a climate on the eve of an important meeting with the minister, not respecting the principles on which the table would have developed, that is, not to disengage from the property and continue to produce in Naples.” "We invite not only the regional and national secretariats but also the municipal and regional institutions and the government to put an end to these continuous provocations - the document concludes - and to ensure that the ongoing tensions in tomorrow's meeting are not further fueled, already fomented by the postponement of the meeting on Friday 21 June. For these reasons, the RSU declares a further moment of mobilization with a strike today to protest against these attitudes and against Whirlpool's desire to abandon Naples". "We fully understand the state of exasperation that pervades the soul of the workers at the Whirlpool plant but we invite them to remain calm and avoid initiatives of this type that can only weaken their sacrosanct fight for work". This is what the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli said with the radio host Gianni Simioli regarding the blockade implemented by the workers of the Naples Whirlpool plant at the San Giovanni a Teduccio motorway junction. "Unfortunately - adds Borrelli - the workers are forced to deal with a future that is more than hazy. Despite the proclamations, everyone is abandoning them. There is a new meeting in Rome at the Ministry on Tuesday but there are no solutions on the horizon. We remain at their side and offer them all our support in this battle but we heartily invite them to avoid initiatives of this type".
