Cocozza Stadium Unusable in Portici. Five Star Movement: “Use it as a peripheral parking lot”
The 5 Star Movement is proposing a series of measures to make up for the lack of parking spaces in the city. As announced in recent days, there are several hypotheses on the table to submit to the municipal administration to stem the problem, including the reuse of the area in front of the Cocozza stadium - currently unusable and in poor condition -.

"The Cocozza stadium is an unusable and unused structure. There is no redevelopment in sight, no project in the works: in the last few days a sinkhole opened up near the stands, there are unsafe walls and torn-off doors - explains Alessandro Caramiello -. However, the Cocozza field is often used as a parking lot for events and other initiatives. A arcade, as is known, the new blue-striped system is creating discontent among citizens, shopkeepers and customers: residents, non-residents and shopkeepers can no longer find parking spaces – he continues – and it could be used as a rest area to alleviate the suffering of motorists”.

The idea of a smarter city within the reach of citizens is not limited to the Cocozza stadium. “We need to imagine the creation of peripheral and interchange parking lots, such as the Via Farina parking lot, the parking area of the former railway freight yard also in winter, and finally the Campo Cocozza to immediately recover more than 500 parking spaces – continues Caramiello -.
Then it will be necessary to draw on the funds so that Portici becomes a smart city, with electric shuttles, discounted season tickets so as to ease city traffic and provide services for the community. Our goal is to make Portici livable by creating tourism, related industries and jobs. And to do so requires planning and vision, in addition to these areas mentioned above, we have also identified others and in the coming weeks we will show them to you".
