Good news for the citizens and swimmers of Naples. Much of the sea in Naples is once again suitable for swimming.
The new withdrawals carried out by the Arpac On July 26, they found that the values returned within the legal limit for five of the eight bathing-free waters in the Municipality of Naples (Punta Nera, Capo Posillipo, Posillipo, Donn' Anna and Lungomare Caracciolo).- The regional environmental agency reports the news.
Values also returned for the waters of bacoli (sections “Spiaggia Romana Colonia Vescovile” and “Spiaggia Romana – Lido PS”) and for the section “Stazione Marina di Licola”, in the territory of Pozzuoli. For these locations, the temporary bathing ban adopted by the municipalities concerned can be revoked, ARPAC informs.
In all these sections, after sampling carried out between 19 and 20 July, microbiological parameter values were highlighted above the legal limits, probably due – states Arpac – to temporary pollution phenomena, following the occurrence of rainfall that puts the waste water management systems into crisis, determining the activation of the “overflow” pipes and the discharge into the sea of untreated waste water mixed with rain water.
Parameters above the legal limits are still found in the sections of Marechiaro, Via Partenope and Piazza Nazario Sauro in the Municipality of Naples, in the Tiberiade water in Torre Annunziata and in the Ex Bagno Rex water in Portici. “Further technical investigations for the identification and removal of the causes of pollution are necessary in these locations”, says the regional environmental agency.
