Body, improvisation, scene writing, voice, word, action/rhythm, space/environment, music/noise, dramaturgy of sound and movement are the principles of analysis of “Cycadidae”, a dance theatre workshop that will be held on 2 and 3 October, in the magnificent setting of Roscigno Vecchia, with the master Carlo Roselli.
The aim of the workshop is to develop an investigation into a subtle and invisible world of the stage made of the continuous dialectic between silence and absence of silence, in all possible declinations.
Organized in collaboration with the association Radici e Cultura and Ebioebà, and sponsored by the Municipality of Roscigno, “Cicadidae” is a two-day course of lessons with a final performance (open to all), staged by the workshop participants themselves, on Sunday at 19:00 pm.
"Theater – says Carlo Roselli – it is primarily a place of listening, an essential condition of theatrical action. Listening to oneself, listening to one's research and work partners, listening to the audience. The latter, on the contrary, is tacitly asked - almost always - to "attend" the scene, to focus attention on the sight of images and movements of the staging.
And yet, once upon a time, people used to say “I’m going to listen to the theatre”. The change of “perspective” happened a long time ago and this reminds me of how widespread and accessible classical Opera was and how strong the bond between theatre and music is. Why not give back at least part of that importance to listening? Start from silence, give space to breathing, to the sound of bodies in movement, of objects on stage and from there start to build a dramaturgy that is first and foremost sound, noise, immersion, song, concert, rhythm, gesture, dance".
