LThe Guardia di Finanza of Caserta has executed the confiscation of assets on behalf of the court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere against the entrepreneur from Trentola Ducenta, Louis Cassandra.
The former municipal councilor and UDC political exponent he is considered a representative of the faction Zagaria of the clan of the Casalesi. The seizure of assets also occurred against relatives and front men. Seals were placed on six apartments, two plots of land with swimming pools, eight cars and a motorbike, shares in eleven companies and bank accounts, for a total estimated value of over five million euros.
Cassandra was arrested on 25 October 2011 for external association with a mafia organisation, money laundering and fictitious registration of assets, as part of investigations into the creation of the Night and Day tourist and sports complex di Trentola Ducenta, a work commissioned by Michele Zagaria, believed to be Cassandra's secret partner.
The entrepreneur, taking advantage of the intimidating power of the gang and exploiting his position as councilor for Public Works, had managed to obtain the necessary authorizations for the construction of the tourist complex even though the land on which it was to be built was still intended for agricultural use.
Cassandra, furthermore, using her wife, her sisters, her brother-in-law and some front men, had over time set up and employed numerous companies for the construction of the sports complex, attributing, from time to time, formal ownership to the various front men in order to prevent the property from being traced back to the actual owner, the boss Zagaria.
The Night and Day it was the 'washing machine' of the enormous liquid capital of the Casalesi through the continuous construction of works such as football fields and skating rinks, as well as, as declared by collaborators of justice, logistical bases for Camorra summits.
