Tam Tam Basket is in the championship, composed of the children of migrants from Castel Volturno. The president of the Fip: "Authorized to play. Basketball is inclusion"
Tam Tam Basket, the team created by former Virtus Bologna and Napoli champion Massimo Antonelli, which fields boys – without Italian citizenship – children of migrants from Castel Volturno, will be able to participate in the Campania under-17 Eccellenza championship. The president of Fip, Gianni Petrucci, who in recent days had also been urged by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, and by the number one of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, has signed a derogation provision.
Which allows “to the Tam Tam company to be able to enter players in the scoresheet for each championship match – specifies a note from the Basketball Federation – athletes of non-Italian citizenship without the limits imposed by the current regulations and despite the recent rulings of the TAR in favor of the FIP”.
The decision taken by Petrucci has a high ethical motivation: "This measure, taking into account the uniqueness of the operating context of the Tam Tam company – concludes the Fip – aims to reaffirm the value of sport as a tool for social inclusion and overcoming any obstacle or barrier of racial origin".
