The former mayor of Napoli gave an interview to the newspaper “il Mattino” to which he told that he wants to run for the next political elections with an anti-Draghi coalition. De Magistris also retraced some of the most relevant phases of his experience as mayor.
Luigi De Magistris, former mayor of the capital of Campania, gave an interview to the newspaper “il Mattino”. The former PM expressed to the journalist Luigi Roano his desire to run for the next political elections with an anti-Draghi coalition that will occupy a centrist position in which all the forces that will enhance constitutional rights will converge.
Asked where De Magistris intends to run, the former mayor said that, since the law allows it, he is considering running in Campania and Calabria where the consensus around his figure is broader.
The lunge at Manfredi
During the interview, the journalist pressed De Magistris on some questions about the current administration. The former mayor defined Manfredi as an “administrator closed in the Palace” and therefore far from the people.
“To lead Naples you need more heart,” added De Magistris.
Wrong choices: Clemente not very humble
De Magistris says he made the wrong choices. He considers the choice of Alessandra Clemente as the city’s mayoral candidate unsuitable. “Clemente was not good at convincing. She lacked humility and the ability to bring people together.”
“Through Naples, 10 years of passion”
“Through Naples, 10 Years of Passion” is De Magistris’ new book in which he retraces the years that saw him at the helm of Palazzo San Giacomo.
In the interview given to Il Mattino, De Magistris talks about some of the most delicate phases of his administration: from the choice to "liberate" the seafront, greeted first with skepticism by restaurateurs and then with satisfaction, to the experience as "street mayor" that followed the application of the Severino law that provides for the suspension of public functions for those who have been convicted (even in the first instance).
De Magistris had been convicted of non-pecuniary abuse of office for having acquired the phone records of some parliamentarians.
