Castel dell'Ovo, Franceschini: “Agreement with Municipality will ensure visibility and cultural tourism”
“We are talking about a spectacular place, one of the most beautiful in Italy, Castel dell'Ovo with Borgo Marinari.
I visited it recently with the mayor of Naples with whom we defined a development agreement between the ministry and the Municipality of Naples, which is ongoing and which we will close shortly, which includes the resolution of the Municipality that provides 8 million euros for the redevelopment and development of Castel dell'Ovo.
Of course, these are restoration, conservation and urgent problem-solving interventions, but they are also part of a subsequent project that must be the enhancement of the place. A tender procedure has already been started for the assignment of the design.
The enhancement agreement will ensure promotion also through public visibility and an enhancement of integrated cultural tourism. Within this project there is a plan for Borgo Marinari that must be enhanced but also defended to prevent large tourist flows from taking away authenticity from that place, as very often happens when the flows increase”.
This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, in response to a question time at the Chamber on initiatives aimed at protecting and enhancing the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples, as part of a broader intervention in favor of the Borgo Marinari.
