The Province of Caserta chooses the latest generation advanced technology to raise safety standards in its territory. Advanced technology against the major causes of accidents, and at the same time supports an education program aimed at young people for more responsible driving.
Il multi-year integrated road safety plan developed by the Provincial Administration will officially start on 25th July with the activation of three devices for the automatic control of instantaneous speed along the SP 335 ex SS 265 and the SP. 333 ex SS 264.
The devices will be active 24/24 (TBD) and will be positioned in detail:
- on SP 335 ex SS 265 of Ponti della Valle towards Giugliano in Campania at km 43 + 863
- on SP 335 ex SS 265 of Ponti della Valle towards Marcianise at km 43 + 940
- on SP 333 ex SS 264 of the Lower Volturno at km 7+380 in direction Castel Volturno and in the direction of Grazzanise . -
Thanks to the use of technological tools – managed through a Cloud platform that allows more control and greater effectiveness of intervention in combating the causes of accidents most widespread – the Province of Caserta looks forward in full coherence with the European objectives of reducing deaths and injuries on the roads. The goal is to reduce victims by 50% by 2030. A horizon that still requires commitment to be achieved.
In 2020 – despite the impact of pandemic measures on mobility – the Land of Work 1.012 accidents were recorded in which 44 people lost their lives and 1.516 suffered injuries. High speed and reckless overtaking (60,9% of cases) were, once again, among the main causes of fatal accidents.
The devices, all smart and equipped with the most advanced technology, will interact with the Titan ecosystem, the proprietary Safety21 platform certified by AgiD (Agency for Digital Italy) supplied to the Provincial Police of Caserta, which will receive and manage the information, data and images coming from the devices, useful for the detection of any infringements in full respect of the privacy of citizens, the procedure being perfectly compliant with the European rules on GDPR.
Starting from 2023, the road safety program will also directly address citizens, especially the younger ones, with the activation of the social project “I love you" an extensive training and awareness campaign on good driving aimed at the new generations which will combine online communication in the area with a series of educational courses for children and teenagers of secondary schools, which will take place with the involvement of the schools in the Caserta area.
"As is known - declared the President of the Province Giorgio Magliocca - speeding and reckless overtaking are the main causes of road accidents and, with the activation of these speed camera devices in the most dangerous sections of our roads, we continue our program to increase the level of safety of provincial road traffic. These devices, in fact, constitute an important deterrent meaning and, therefore, are used above all with the preventive function of reducing accidents, increasing road safety and therefore guaranteeing public safety. We intend to remind everyone - concluded Magliocca - of the need to respect the highway code in a dissuasive and not only repressive logic".
