Marinaresca, the new live in studio videoclip by Maria Mazzotta to pay homage to Maestro Roberto De Simone.

The electric sounds of post-rock meet the visceral interpretation of Maria Mazzotta, an original and profound combination for one of the most appreciated voices in the European world music scene.

Maria Mazzotta, who with her album “Amoreamaro” has established herself as one of the most appreciated voices on the European world music scene, has released a new video clip and is preparing to present her new line-up live.

On stage with Maria Mazzotta, in addition to the accordionist Antonino De Luca already on tour with the duo, there will also be Ernesto Nobili on guitars and Cristiano Della Monica on percussion, extraordinary musicians and producers with whom Mazzotta is working on a new studio album.

With this new line up Maria Mazzotta will be the protagonist in September of three preview concerts of the show: on the 2nd in Capua (Caserta) for the review “The city under the city”, on the 3rd in Ancona for the “Festival Adriatico – Mediterraneo” and on the 23rd in Portici (Naples).

The work is anticipated on Tuesday 30 August by the publication on YouTube of the new video clip of the single “Marinaresca”, a live studio that pays homage to Maestro Roberto De Simone.

The electric sounds of post-rock meet the visceral interpretation of Maria Mazzotta, an original and profound union. The pen of Maestro Roberto De Simone, who gave a nineteenth-century reinterpretation full of incursions into the sounds of the popular tradition of Carpino, is reinterpreted and elaborated in this live version in the studio with an original arrangement conceived and created by Mazzotta with Ernesto Nobili and Cristiano Della Monica.

In “Marinaresca”, the sonnet “Di primë ammorë ti venë a salutajë” recorded for the first time by Roberto Leydi in December 1965 in Carpino is reworked by Roberto de Simone for “Quanto è bello lu murire acciso”, a 1975 historical film directed by Ennio Lorenzini.

The videoclip, directed by Gabriele Vitale, is produced by Zero Nove Nove and was filmed in Salento at the Funkeria studios; Cristiano Della Monica was responsible for the recordings and audio mixing.

The live shows with the new line-up are part of a long and prestigious tour with which the singer from Puglia presents her debut solo album “Amoreamaro”. Released in March 2020, it has more than 100 concerts in more than 20 European countries, performing in prestigious venues and festivals: from the Theatre de Ville in Paris to the National Opera and Ballet in Skopje for the OFFest, from Womex 2021 in Porto to the Kulturhaus ORF in Vienna, from the Müpa in Budapest to La Citè de la Musique in Marseille, Viljandi Folk Festival in Estonia, Radio France Festival in Montpellier, Folk Holidays in the Czech Republic, FITS in Romania, Todo Mundo in Serbia, etc.

An intense tour that will continue in the coming months, alternating dates with the new quartet formation with other concerts with the voice and accordion duo formation. And so Maria Mazzotta, accompanied by Antonino De Luca, will be on September 7th at the Import-Export in Munich (Germany), on September 8th in Esch Sur Alzette (Luxembourg) for the Nuits de la Culture, on September 9th in Warsaw (Poland) for the opening concert of the Cross Culture Festival, on September 10th in Saint-Emilion (France) for the Vino Voce Festival, on September 17th in Lich (Germany) for the Sommermusik Welten, on September 24th in Barcelona (Spain) for the La Mercè festival. But it doesn't end here, the duo will perform again on October 6th in Avignon (France) at the Théatre du Chêne Noir, on October 7th in Rennes (France) for the Le Grand Soufflet festival, on October 12th at the G Livelab in Tampere (Finland), on October 14th at the Vrelo Zvuka in Zagreb (Croatia).

“Amoreamaro” is an intense and passionate reflection, from a female point of view, on the various faces of love: from the great, desperate and tender one to the sick, possessive and abused one.

Ten songs in all, two of which are unreleased, that fearlessly traverse all the emotions that this feeling can arouse, finding in singing, as per popular tradition, catharsis, consolation, strength and “cure”. They range from stornelli to traditional songs rearranged and enriched with new sounds and words, up to the milestones that have paved the way for great Italian song such as “Lu pisci Spada” by Domenico Modugno, “Tu non mi piaci più” brought to success by Gabriella Ferri and “Rosa canta e cunta” by the great Sicilian singer-songwriter Rosa Balistreri.

The album released in 2020 by Agualoca Records, received great acclaim from the public and music critics. 2020 saw Maria Mazzotta among the five finalists of the Targhe Tenco in the “Interpreter of songs” section; ranked at no. 8 (out of 708 nominees) among the best albums of the year in the World Music Chart Europe and at no. 9 in the Transglobal World Music Chart, international charts drawn up by expert journalists in the sector; finalist at the Parodi Award where she received the international jury section; ranked third at the Premio Nazionale Città di Loano; selected for the showcase at Womex (Porto/Portugal), at the International Kulturbörse in Freiburg (Germany), at the Fira Mediterrania de Manresa (Spain) and at MusiConnect (Pistoia); finalist for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplatten Kritik (Germany) and for the FolkHerbst (Germany, November 2021).
