Don Maurice Patriciello, parish priest of the Verde park in Caivano, in the province of Naples, announced on his very popular Facebook page that he had received, “by surprise”, a phone call from Pope Francis.
“The Holy Father knows everything about our battles for the environment,” he says, “knowing that the successor of Peter is aware of what we do in our land fills us with joy.” Don Patriciello says he “never doubted” that the Pontiff was on the other end of the phone.
“It was lunchtime, this phone call came from an unknown number,” he says. “After answering, I heard him say: ‘Hello, I’m Pope Francis.’ It wasn’t announced by anyone, he spoke directly. I really can’t explain the joy I felt.” “Having received his phone call, the successor of Saint Peter,” he concludes, “confirms the faith.”
