The Regional Council approved today the Memorandum of Understanding that will initiate the process for the implementation of the project "New dedicated connection between the Afragola high-speed train station and the Naples metro network."
The Campania Region, we read in a note, "had already financed for six million euros the Strengthened Technical-Economic Feasibility Project, entrusted for implementation to ACaMIR on FSC 2014/2020 funds, guaranteeing the necessary condition for subsequent financing by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, materialized in approximately one and a half billion euros".
Three sections financed: from Naples (station “Di Vittorio”) to Casoria (station “Afragola”); from Casoria (station “Afragola”) to Afragola (station “Centro”); from Naples (station “Di Vittorio”) to Naples (station “Carlo III”). The protocol, the Region underlines, “will be sent for approval to the bodies and after the signature EAV will immediately start the preparation of the tender documents with the aim of publishing by next March the tender worth over two billion euros, which also includes the purchase of 30 trains necessary for the service.
The project, the result of regional planning in synergy with the other bodies involved, will finally guarantee the City of Naples a fast connection with the Afragola High Speed station, improving its integration into the regional network and a subway service to an important part of the territory north of Naples".
