Struck by a sudden heart attack while on the street in Soccavo: saved by the carabinieri who were on the street and by the immediate arrival of a 118 ambulance.
We are in Soccavo, it is 9 in the morning and the Carabinieri of the Naples mobile radio unit are walking along Via Piave. Not far away there is a man, in his sixties, who collapses on the ground and clutches his hand to his chest: it is a heart attack.
The soldiers waste no time and the call to 118 is instantaneous. In those few minutes that pass while waiting for the ambulance, the Carabinieri are close to the 63-year-old, lying on a bench. The medical personnel arrive and the race begins with the “escort” to the ambulance that the gazelle performs in the city traffic.
The man, first at the Fatebenefratelli in Naples and then at the Mediterranea clinic, underwent emergency surgery for “myocardial infarction” and the operation was successful.
