Theater, a tribute to Mico Galdieri 10 years after his death. A public meeting in Naples is dedicated to the producer.
On the tenth anniversary of the death of Mico Galdieri (which occurred on December 15, 2012), the Ente Teatro Cronaca, a theatrical production and distribution organization (founded by him – in 1959 – and directed for decades) is dedicating a public meeting to him in Naples entitled “Our friend Mico”.
The multifaceted impresario, beloved for his jovial nature and esteemed for the foresight he demonstrated in identifying and supporting talents still unexpressed in the theatre and music scene, is dedicated to a secular celebration scheduled for Friday 16 December (17 pm) in the Teatro Sannazaro, in the city where he was born in 1933. Many artists, companions of hundreds of adventures on stage and behind the scenes of theatres will join the organisers in remembering a protagonist.
Having worked in the theatre since he was very young, both as an actor and as a leading actor, he was a publicist and theatre critic. As a director and producer since 1962 he has staged more than 100 shows and, alongside Eduardo De Filippo, he collaborated in the creation of the Scarpettiana del Teatro San Ferdinando.
He linked his name to the great shows created by Roberto De Simone, producing “Gatta Cenerentola”, “L'Opera Buffa del Giovedì Santo”, “Festa di Piedigrotta”, “Eden Teatro”, “Il Canto de li Cunti”, “Il Drago”, “Il Bazzariota ovvero la dama del bell'umore”, promoting them in long national and international tours.
He was the founder and director of the Consorzio Teatro Campano and created and directed avant-garde initiatives such as the Festival “Settembre al borgo” in Casertavecchia and the Opera Buffa Festival. He served as president of the Ente Teatrale Italiano, the most important theatrical distribution organization in Italy in the second half of the twentieth century.
“Theatre for Mico – comments Giulio Baffi, artistic director of the Ente Teatro Cronaca – he was a unique and constant presence, a universe worthy of attention in all its moments, air to breathe and commitment to which to dedicate oneself. This was his life and his work, without ever asking for anything in return”.
