They try to run over a policeman to escape the roadblock, then they get rid of the cocaine they had in the car.
It happened in Montesarchio, in the province of Benevento, where the military arrested a young couple. Late yesterday evening, on the Appia state road, two people on board a car forced a roadblock set up by the Carabinieri of the Benevento Company.
The driver of the car, noticing the presence of the patrol, increased speed and pointed the car towards the soldier, who only at the last moment managed to suddenly step back, thus avoiding being hit.
A high-speed chase ensued for about a kilometre, during which the passenger threw a package out of the window, which was immediately recovered by the Carabinieri and turned out to be two vacuum-packed cellophane bags containing cocaine to be cut for a total weight of 130 grams.
Reached and identified, the two were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of dealing and for the driver alone also for resisting a public official. The man was taken to prison while the woman was placed under house arrest.
