Eight Penitentiary Police officers have been reinstated from those suspended for the violence of 6 April 2020 which took place to quell protests by inmates in the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
These are police officers from Santa Maria and Secondigliano, who were asked to choose a new location between Carinola, Avellino and Salerno.
The news was released by Aldo Di Giacomo, general secretary of S.Pp. "All the agents reinstated in service are people who did not take part in any way in the violence in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere
. No prisoner recognized them, no camera filmed them. The principle of innocence must be valid for everyone, these policemen were suspended, with reduced pay, without ever even a conviction.
Now, we hope that in other cases too, provision will be made for the return to service, while keeping in mind that those who made mistakes must pay".
The eight agents of Penitentiary Police initially believed to be involved in the violence that broke out in the Campania prison in April 2020.
