Yesterday afternoon the State Police arrested VE, born in 64, with a criminal record for conspiracy to commit robbery, illegal possession of firearms, receiving stolen goods, evasion, contempt of public offices and crimes relating to forgery.
On February 15, the man had evaded an order of execution for imprisonment issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Benevento – Criminal Enforcement Office – following the revocation of house arrest ordered by the Surveillance Court of Naples, having to serve the residual sentence of 25 years and 4 months of imprisonment.
The agents of the Naples Flying Squad and the Afragola Police Station tracked him down in Casoria, following a careful investigation, on board a car from an electrical engineering company and wearing worker's clothes.
VE was also found in possession of a false identity document valid for travel abroad and various women's clothing, makeup and wigs were found on the vehicle to avoid recognition. In the context of the same activity, another individual, aged thirty-two, was reported at large, who allegedly facilitated his disappearance.
Last April, the police officers of the Flying Squad and the soldiers of the ROS of the Carabinieri of Naples had executed an arrest warrant against him as a suspect in a crime, issued by the District Attorney's Office of Naples, as he was considered the perpetrator, together with five other individuals, in various capacities, of the theft and receiving of the very precious painting reproducing the icon of Christ Blessing, better known as "Salvator Mundi", attributed to the School of Leonardo Da Vinci, dating back to the 16th century.
