On the occasion of “Procida Premia la Cultura” 2023, an award will be presented to Carlo Scotto di Santolo, a young man with autism who has long been committed to the study and promotion of his native island, Procida, and who is about to graduate in contemporary history from the University of Naples Federico II.
Carlo has long been part of the TulipanoLab work group, created as part of the social and work inclusion projects for people with autism and/or cognitive disabilities conceived by Tulipano Art Friendly, an association led by Giovanni Minucci. TulipanoLab works to create inclusion paths through culture and it was the young people involved in the training path who created tools (visual agendas / digital apps) that, when used inside museums, promote inclusive, interactive and engaging museum visits for everyone.
Carlo also participated in the PCTO created with the students of the Artemisia Gentileschi Institute of Naples with a leading role, telling the kids the history and beauties of Procida.
“I am really very happy to receive this recognition – declared Carlo Scotto di Santolo – I hope with my degree, which I will soon obtain, to be able to do many beautiful things and to give a contribution in telling and promoting my island and the civic museum. This award comes at the end of a long journey that I have not carried out alone, for this I thank all those who have supported me in these years”. Carlo Scotto di Santolo concluded.
"We decided to reward Carlo for his commitment to the enhancement of the island - said Rosaria Cantagallo, creator and founder of the award - and we are convinced that Procida will be able to offer him many opportunities and he will certainly give added value to the island community. His passion for history and culture, his love for his land are commendable. Unfortunately – Cantagallo continued – autism is still a topic that is not well known and our commitment is aimed at raising awareness and providing correct information. Families are too often left alone and children have great difficulty in building a future for themselves independently. There are still too many preconceptions and too many taboos that need to be broken down and culture can be the tool that unites everyone, overcoming barriers and differences between each individual, a goal that Tulipano Art Friendly is committed to achieving every day”.
The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 28 May, at 16,30:XNUMX pm, at the “La Vigna” hotel on the island of Procida.
