“Today it was an honor for me to participate in the inauguration of the Moss in Scampia, the first ecomuseum of the city of Naples. The ecomuseum is an extraordinary example of grassroots culture, which collects the heritage of traditions, environmental and social riches of an entire community.
Scampia is a territory very rich in culture and participation, where there is a strong network between associations, schools and citizens, capable of creating beauty, and this is what happened with the ecomuseum”. This is what the Vice President of the Regional Council and member of the Mixed Group, Valeria Ciarambino, says.
“The Moss was born from a long process of shared planning and tells the story of the territory starting from the living culture of the people, from their environment, from what they have inherited from the past, from what they love and what they want to show to their guests and pass on to their children, far from the stereotypes that have characterized Scampia.
The hope is that ecomuseums can become opportunities to include in the museum and tourist offer of our region those territories that today are marginal, and that instead have so much to offer and tell" adds Ciarambino.
“It is extraordinary experiences like this that have convinced me to promote, within the Regional Council of Campania, a specific bill for ecomuseums. As often happens, in fact, reality comes before the norm, and the norm intervenes almost to take note of initiatives born from below.
All these experiences make it necessary to have a formal recognition, of a legislative nature, also capable of standardizing the quality standards of the existing entities and those that will be created in the future. For ecomuseums, it is necessary to provide dedicated contributions, in order to support the management, development, research and enhancement activities of the heritage owned by the individual ecomuseum entities that are already present or that will be created following the approval of the law. – concludes Valeria Ciarambino -.
I have received assurances from the Regional Council and the President of the Budget Commission that the proposed law will obtain a favorable opinion on the financial provision; I truly hope that within a short time this provision will be a law of the Campania Region, so as to give a further impetus towards the birth of an ecomuseum network in our land".
