“The decision to fire three workers is a very serious matter, especially because it all happened following a lack of agreement on ordinary redundancy payments, which would have been paid anyway. This scenario shows us the precise purpose of these measures, which are undoubtedly punitive in nature and therefore illegitimate.”
The provincial secretariat of Naples of Fiom reports this in a note. And then it adds: "The constant use of workers' holidays, the increase in production and last but not least the use of new workers hired with different types of contracts, clearly shows the health of the company and above all the improper use of this ordinary fund, used as a real tool to reduce organizational costs and certainly not for a drop in demand".
And then it is further specified: “Fiom is ready to open a discussion table with the company management, but if the objective is to impose its will by force, we reiterate that there will be clear opposition from our organization and from all workers.
Even the summoning of only the workers, called on a holiday by the company management is an anti-union behavior, we will not be dragged into a clash that with the way it started reminds us of the past 60s".
And finally the proposal: "As a consequence of such behavior, Fiom declares the block of all forms of overtime, announcing that all contractual violations, starting with the use of current vacations, will be reported to the ITL of Naples. The choice to raise the level of conflict is not the responsibility of Fiom but of those who decided to fire the workers, using them as a real blackmail weapon.
Fiom has announced an 8-hour strike for May 30th with a meeting outside the gates of the San Giorgio plant in Acerra, where newspapers and television stations will be present to give maximum emphasis to unacceptable and violent behavior”.
