The Public Prosecutor's Office Castrovillari has opened an investigation into the disappearance of Denise Galata', the 17-year-old girl missing in the Lao River, in the Cosenza area since yesterday. The search resumed this morning. The girl from Cinquefrondi was on a school trip in the Cosenza area and was rafting yesterday. The young woman attends the Polistena high school.
Her helmet was found. According to what emerged, there was a collision between two dinghies and Denise fell into the water. Since then there has been no news. The carabinieri have already interviewed Denise's guides and companions yesterday.
“From the moment we learned of the accident that happened to our students in Laino Borgo – said the director of the state high school “Giuseppe Rechichi” of Polistena, Francesca Morabito – we remained on site and maintained constant contact with the rescuers.
Together with the teachers on site we have monitored the ongoing searches with the utmost attention. We do not lose hope”. The search activities are coordinated by the firefighters who are using all the rescue vehicles, with teams on land, by river and also with special means from above with drones.
