Summer is upon us and the islands of the Neapolitan archipelago are starting to get crowded. And to ensure the safety of the thousands of people visiting, the Carabinieri of the Ischian Company have set up control services along the main (and busiest) streets and squares of Ischia and Procida.
A 39-year-old man from Ischia was reported for theft. The man allegedly stole a purse from a car parked on Via dello Stadio. A 21-year-old from Forio was also reported for being caught with a 33-centimeter kitchen knife during a checkpoint.
A 23-year-old from Ischia will have to answer for driving under the influence of alcohol, having driven his car with a blood alcohol level far above the limits set by the Highway Code.
A man of 65, instead, will have to justify the building abuse committed in an area bound by landscape and environmental protection. In via Piano Liguori, he is said to have built without authorization a reinforced concrete structure of about 90 square meters.
A 53-year-old with no criminal record from Procida was reported for refusing to provide information about his identity. During a check on the flow of tourists entering and leaving the port, he allegedly refused to hand over his documents.
And again, a 42-year-old from Irpinia was reported because he was stopped on board a van with a counterfeit license plate. The vehicle was also seized for lack of insurance coverage.
There was no shortage of anti-drug checks, also carried out with the help of units from the Sarno dog unit. 3 young people were reported to the Prefecture because they disembarked from ferries arriving from Naples with drugs in their pockets. The checks will continue in the coming hours.
