The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, together with the Avvocata and Chiaia Operational Units of the Local Police of Naples, has ordered an intensification of controls in the areas of greatest tourist influx of the Neapolitan capital, in order to combat the phenomenon of counterfeiting and commercial abuse.
Between 10 and 20 July, two hundred checks were carried out on people and vehicles in the central areas of Via Toledo, Molo Beverello, the Maritime Station, Via Cesario Console and Via Nazario Sauro.
In particular, the Green Berets of the Naples Emergency Response Group identified, in the “Lavinaio” area, an illegal factory where counterfeit goods were produced and assembled, then sold in the streets of the city centre.
During the search of the premises, the military found and seized sewing machines, work tools for manufacturing goods and approximately 42.000 counterfeit items including bags, t-shirts, belts, shoes of well-known fashion brands. The person responsible, a woman of Moroccan origin, was reported.
During further checks carried out with the help of canine units, over 60 grams of hashish and marijuana were seized and 24 people were reported to the Prefect of Naples.
The operations carried out by the Local Police personnel, in the same streets, allowed for the seizure of over 2.500 products (including glasses, belts, lighters, magnets, bracelets, fans, souvenirs, toys, mobile phone accessories, t-shirts, key rings, statues of saints) and three 3 carts for the sale of granitas, imposing administrative fines for a total of approximately 8.000 euros.
The Naples Local Police continued their checks in the Chiaia area regarding street trading on Via Nazario Sauro, Via Cesario Console and Via Partenope, seizing over 9.000 pieces of various objects including rings, bracelets, toys, cell phone covers and glasses.
