The intervention of the operators of the veterinary public health area of the ASL prevention department has begun in Anacapri Napoli 1 Centre, coordinated by Marina Pompameo, for the removal of 25 goats found dead yesterday on the path that leads from Cetrella to the valley of Mount Solaro.
The on-site surveys, carried out using forensic medicine techniques by the operators of the regional reference centre, were necessary to allow the identification of the causes of death.
After the recovery, which was particularly difficult due to the inaccessible places, the remains of the goats are being transferred to the mainland for autopsy tests which will be carried out at theZooprophylactic Institute of Portici – in agreement with the Veterinary Pathological Anatomy section of the Federico II University – which will carry out all infectious and toxicological investigations for the correct search for the cause of death.
At the moment no hypothesis is excluded. Among the main ones is that of death by poisoning.

Let us remember that the Goat is present in the same symbol of the Municipality of Anacapri and probably also the origin of the name of the island.
It's 2023 and we haven't been able to manage the presence of goats that in the end were almost certainly murdered without mercy. Are they more harmful than the goats that have lived on the island for centuries or who, if the poisoning is confirmed, will kill them without any scruples? Who will give justice to these poor animals?
